We are raising £300,000 to ensure that we can continue to provide our current services for the young of Henley.
We offer support and subsidised housing in a safe environment to young and vulnerable Henley residents or those who have a very close association with Henley, irrespective of race, religion or sex.
We have two full time staff who help the youngsters onto the right path in life by giving advice on budgeting, training, obtaining jobs, further education and support in many other ways. It is a Henley facility. We usually come top in the performance table of measurable objectives set by YMCA England and manage our finances such that we enjoy a small surplus each and every year.
We own the freehold of the land and sports pavilion in our Lawson Road facility. The lease on the housing of the 31 studios and flats is owned by YMCA England. The latter have decided to withdraw from the property market and have offered the lease to us at a price of £566,500. We have identified fund sources for £266,500 and therefore need to raise the balance of £300,000 from trusts and benefactors.
We have set up a separate bank account so that all funds contributed in this campaign will be ring-fenced. Should we be fortunate enough to raise more than the target amount, we will use the excess to fund the essential renovations which will be required over the next few years.
This is a Henley facility providing a significant contribution to the young of Henley in turning around those who have experienced difficulty and want to be helped.
